Catalytic Gauzes

The Polish State Mint is the only Polish producer of precious metal gauzes and the domestic supplier for Polish nitric acid plants.
Catalyst gauzes are usually manufactured of platinum wire (10% Rh/Pt) with 0.060 mm or 0.076 diameters ± 0.005 mm either woven or knitted.
The minimum purity of precious metals is 99.9%. The total amount of Au, Fe, Al, Ag, Pb, Si, Zn, Cu, As, Sb, Ni, Bi, Mg, and Ca does not exceed 1,000 ppm.
Woven: Gauzes are offered using plain or herringbone weaves. Normal density is 1024 mesh per cm2. Maximum gauze diameter is 3950 mm; Gauzes greater than 2300 diameter are formed of welded connected strips.
Knitted: Maximum gauzes (seamless) diameter is 3,000 mm. Knitted gauzes are the equivalent to woven gauzes - 1024 mesh/cm2.
The Polish State Mint also manufactures gold-palladium alloys (20 Au/Pd or 10% Au/Pd) catchment gauzes for reducing precious metals losses in catalytic ammonia burners.
